Board Team Values
Board Team Values
Everyone wants to be part of a winning team. How we function as a team determines our level of success. These team values will be a reminder to each of us that we are working together to build a great community here at ______________. The comment of Alex Haley, author of Roots will encourage us in our team venture: “If you see a turtle on a fence post, you know he had some help.” Together we can build a great community.
Team Values – How we work with each other
Because we want our community to be a safe friendly place which feels like a retreat for our owners and their guests we as board members will seek to live and promote these values:
1. We are Community Minded – we look out for each other, for our kids, our property and our community.
2. We are committed to the team meeting – we attend on time and in an emergency we call the chairman.
3. We will practice Loyalty
• We will not entertain an accusation about one of the team members without speaking with them about it first.
• We will stand behind each other and assume the best of each team member.
4. We will maintain confidentiality – things shared openly at the board meeting will not be talked about outside the board even with family.
5. We will act in a prudent manner – we will deal with the corporate matters without letting our personal feelings come into the decision.
6. We will be open and honest with people and tell them what the real issues are even when they might not be popular.
• We commit to state our disagreements along with our reasons so that the team is able to discuss all issues fully. When a team consensus is reached, we all support it publicly and privately.
7. We choose to think the best of others and promote a positive attitude.
8. When problems are discussed we commit to openness in sharing details.
• We never say, “People are saying”. Either we say, “who said it and what was said” or we will not raise the issue at all. This permits us to be solution oriented team players.
9. We commit to respecting each other and serving our community.
What The Condominium Community Can Expect Of Us
• That we will have their best interest at heart.
• That we will make good decisions on their behalf.
• That we will be an example in living community values as we serve on the board.
• Every leader has two buckets, one of water and one of gasoline. Our community can expect that we will be people who use the water on problematic fires and use the gasoline to fan the flame of a positive serving community.
